Connect your M-Pesa till
Customers pay your till as they do today. Each payment shows up in MyButchery within seconds, with the name, amount and receipt number, so you never type M-Pesa figures again.
What happens when a customer pays
- The customer pays your till with M-Pesa, as usual.
- The money goes straight to your M-Pesa account. MyButchery never touches it.
- The payment appears in MyButchery within seconds, under the right branch and till.
- At closing it is already in the day's total, so you only count the cash.
Payments that are not for today's meat
- Debt repayments: mark it as paying off a customer's debt. One payment can clear several debts at once.
- Money set aside: cash given back, an order deposit or the owner's money, so it does not count as meat sold.
- Late payments: a payment after midnight counts for the night you were open, not the next morning.
- Reversals: taken off by themselves.
Which tills work
Safaricom Buy Goods tills and Paybills, connected through Safaricom Daraja, and tills on Kopo Kopo. If you have several branches, give each branch its own till so you see each shop's takings separately.
Is it safe?
Your till connection details are encrypted before they are stored, and only your business can see its payments. MyButchery can only receive payment messages. It cannot send, withdraw or reverse money.
Setting it up
In MyButchery, open Settings, then Payments. Choose Safaricom Daraja or Kopo Kopo, paste the details from your account, add your till number and press Test. If you get stuck, tell us and we will set it up with you.

Questions
Does MyButchery hold my money?
Never. Customers pay your till and the money goes straight to your M-Pesa account. MyButchery only receives a message that the payment happened.
Can I keep my current till number?
Yes. You connect the Buy Goods till or Paybill you already have. Customers keep paying the same number.
Which tills work?

What about payments for debts?
Mark the payment as a debt repayment and pick the customer. It comes off what they owe and is not counted as the day's sales. If they paid more than they owe, the rest still counts as sales.
What if a payment is reversed?
It is taken off the day's total automatically.
