Getting started
What is MyButchery?
An app for running a butchery in Kenya. You record the meat you buy and sell in kilos, cash, M-Pesa, credit customers and staff pay, and it shows you at closing if any money or meat is missing.
Do I need a computer?
No. It runs in the browser on any smartphone, tablet or computer. Staff can enter the day on a phone at the counter.
How long does it take to set up?
You can start the same day: add your branch, your products and prices per kilo, and your staff. Connecting M-Pesa can wait.
Can I try it first?
Yes. 14 days free with every feature. No card needed.
M-Pesa and money
Can I keep my current till number?
Yes. You connect the Buy Goods till or Paybill you already have, through Safaricom Daraja or Kopo Kopo. Customers keep paying the same number.
Does MyButchery ever hold my money?
Never. Payments go straight from the customer to your M-Pesa account. MyButchery only receives a notice that the payment happened.
Can a customer pay several debts at once?
Yes. Record one payment and it clears their debts from the oldest first. A till payment can do the same.
Staff and branches
I have several branches. How does that work?
Each branch has its own meat, money, tills and staff. Pick one branch to see only that shop, or all branches to see everything together. A manager only sees their own branch.
Can staff see my profits?
No. Staff only see the daily entry for their branch. Profits and reports are for owners and the managers you choose.
Can I see who changed an entry?
Yes. Every change to entries, prices and staff is recorded with who did it and when.
Paying and your data
What happens after the 14 days?
Choose a plan and pay by M-Pesa. If you don't, nothing is deleted: you can still open your records, you just can't add new days until you pick a plan.
Can I leave and take my data?
Yes. Download all your records as files from Settings at any time. If you want everything deleted, ask and we'll remove it.
Who can see my records?
Only the people you add to your business. Each business's records are kept apart from every other account.
